The global cosmetics industry is projected to reach $463.5 billion by 2027 and within that, skincare and clean beauty is among the fastest growing segments. We spoke with Amina Grimen and Ayat Toufeeq, co-founders of Powder, about the rise of clean beauty brands in Mena.

Interest in cryptocurrencies has spiked over this past year, thanks to Bitcoin's soaring valuation. User sign-up on BitOasis's own platform rose by 400 per cent in the first quarter of this year, compared to Q4 in 2020. According to Ola Doudin, co-founder of BitOasis, the region is now "having its crypto moment".

Mena startups raised $175 million in April 2021

Growth in investment continued in April as 44 startups across Mena raised more than $175 million last month, up $5 million from March. For the first time, Saudi Arabia topped the list in terms of number and value of startup investments.

This year, the UAE established a federal circular economy council to generate new economic opportunities, reduce the use of natural resources and protect the environment.
