Careem, now Saudi Arabia's top indirect employer.

Back at STEP Conference 2017, Careem announced becoming the top indirect employer in Saudi Arabia (and being very close to having a full Saudi fleet of captains).

We had a good chat with their VP of Marketing and Communications where we learned the inner workings of a culture like Careem's, and why it is one of their main assets - here's the livestream.

Making the rounds

Compareit4me launches automated, real-time health insurance comparison platform, allowing UAE users to compare and buy health plans online.

Jamalon.com, MENA's online bookstore, expands its range of books & titles after signing two agreements, one with Lulu.com and the other with OmniScriptum.

Souq.com + Amazon: it is a big deal

While some of you got excited over the possibility of getting their packages by drones, others were a bit more excited for how this acquisition would affect the regional ecommerce sector. Though, the question to ask at this point is 'why did Amazon buy Souq (and Payfort) instead of launching its own platform from scratch? Easy, to get a head start in the MENA market, mitigating any risks involved in merchants, products and customers.
