It's common for entrepreneurs to go straight into building product when launching their startup without spending sufficient time getting to know their customers, their motivations, their desires, and their pain points. Leen Ashqar, senior associate at Propeller, explains the importance of launching in a lean way.

All eyes have been on Lebanon over the past year, but for all the wrong reasons. When Careem first launched, everything was done manually - eventually, the company invested in its backend technology. Careem's VP of engineering and mobility, Baber Shaikh, tells us how the pandemic has expedited the adoption of advanced technologies, his views on Careem becoming a super app, and his priorities for the company in the coming period.

In 2020 alone, Bitcoin valuation increased by 300 per cent with optimists predicting a similar bull run for Ethereum, the second-largest crypto by market capitalisation, as well. In a world looking for impetus to drive an economic rejuvenation, the crypto bull run is a strong contender for this role, and one can expect this trend to continue, and in fact even escalate this year.

Fundraising is a difficult task anywhere in the world and it is especially difficult within Iraq given the dynamics and the volatility of the market. Ali Al Suhail, managing director at KAPITA, a development company that invests and incubates startups in Iraq, and the network manager for the Iraqi Angel Network, tells us about the realities of fundraising in the country.

Existing narratives on humans and AI often focus on how AI can do tasks just like a human but better, leading to a common, not-so-unreasonable fear that AI machines someday will replace humans in the workforce. Sachin Dev Duggal, co-founder and CEO of Builder.ai, says the world's next great app will be built by software, guided by AI and humans.
