Uber and Careem are among several startup giants that have already established a presence in some of Africa's largest cities. Now, an increasing number of Egyptian startups, businesses and support organizations have set their sights on Africa as well.
Tech entrepreneurship in Africa has undeniably proven that African startups are creating impactful and investable ventures to solve the continent's challenges, but it's Eastern Africa specifically that is labeled as its Silicon Valley.
WaystoCap became Morocco's first startup to complete the Y Combinator accelerator programme in 2017, and then went on to raise $3m in its seed round, financed mainly by Y Combinator itself - in conversation with Niama El Bassunie of WaystoCap
