Investors began to take notice of the edtech space in 2020, with $30 million invested in Mena's edtech startups that year, up from $21 million in 2019. This year, edtech startups in Mena have attracted $14.7 million in venture capital across 12 startups, as well as one exit, that of Lebanon-born Ostaz - can the sector maintain its momentum?
The Mena region is edtech's sleeping giant, and that giant is starting to wake up - with regular announcements of edtech startups raising new rounds and the growing adoption, the momentum is unmistakable. Nafez Dakkak, managing director and CEO of the Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development, says Mena's edtech moment is here.
