Businesses that have been gravely impacted by COVID-19 have had to make difficult decisions in how they operate as they come to terms with the changing environment rooted in uncertainty. Rashid Al Ghurair, founder and CEO of UAE-based CAFU, a fuel on-demand service, explains how the company shifted its priorities to drive further innovation to help the community during these times.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, consumers were forced to purchase online at the height of the crisis and confidence has been slow to return for bricks and mortar stores across Mena. Darren Hodgkin, CEO of Digital&Code, foresees many challenges ahead for e-commerce providers as we emerge into the post-COVID world, and highlights three key areas that he believes are crucial to the survival of online retailers.

In the Middle East, many corporates tend to compete with startups and thus become an obstacle, creating barriers to market. Wamda spoke with Joe Abi Akl, chief corporate development officer at Majid Al Futtaim Holding (MAF), on how the retail and shopping giant has embraced startups, and the lessons the company learned during the coronavirus pandemic.
